This week, the makers of various fan-made Resident Evil remakes of Resident Evil - Code: Veronica and the original Resident Evil announced that Capcom had terminated their development.

The games have been getting remakes for a time, and occasionally, video from the remakes has garnered notice. However, it now seems that this is over.

A more detailed justification for the shutdown was posted on Discord after the announcement was made on social media.

In that justification, the developers claimed that Capcom had gotten in touch with them and that the Resident Evil IP's owners had cancelled the projects.

The developer said that Capcom had contacted them in order to find out more about the source of the 3D models and animations for the remakes.

This cancellation comes after another gameplay preview from November and the recent release of a demo.
